Herbert Jay Rosenfield, ACSW,
LCSW, BCD, founded the Adolescent & Family Counseling Center, LLC, in 1980. He is a CT Licensed Clinical Social Worker (000187) and is a CT Certified School Social Worker (#: 32180 ). He earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from UMass/Amherst in 1967 and his MSW from Boston University School of Social Work in 1970, with a focus on Groupwork.
Prior to being the Director of the A&FCC, Herb worked in a variety of settings: the YMCA of New Bedford, MA; Boys' Club of Waltham, MA; Jewish Community Centers in Boston, Worcester, and New Haven; and for the Meriden (CT) Public Schools as School Social Worker. For the practice, Rosenfield also had provided school-based therapy for over a decade at Wilcox Regional Vocational-Technical High School and for Meriden Public Schools at John Barry and Benjamin Franklin Elementary Schools and at Washington Middle School.
In the A&FCC practice, Herb sees a broad range of children, teenagers, adults, and families. He has particular focus in work with teenagers, ADHD, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and hypnotherapy and relaxation. Rosenfield presents the 2 hour workshop, “Relax … and Live Better”™, here in the practice and at the on-site facilities of agencies, business, and industry. Therapy" (tm), "Face-to-Face Internet Technology Therapy" (tm).
Rosenfield is also a partner in Connecticut Mental Health Resources, LLC, providing EAP services to clients across the state of Connecticut. He was the founder of PsychBedFinder Connecticut, LLC, which attempted to increase efficiency and speed by linking the referrors to and the providers of inpatient mental health and substance abuse services via an internet-based network.

been employed for 20 years at the CT State Department of Corrections facilities
with the
UConn School of Medicine’s Correctional Mental Health Unit.
A Licensed Professional Counselor (#000169), Lynn M. Krieg, MS, LPC, has begun here in 2002 as our Psychotherapist and Medical Counselor. Krieg is a long-term Cheshire resident and she is employed full-time as a Psychologist at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. A recipient of her MS in Psychology degree from Southern Connecticut State University, she is providing psychotherapy and training workshops here at the A&FCC. Beginning in January, Ms. Krieg will being providing Q.U.I.T.Ô, the practice’s program, “Quit Unwanted Intake of Tobacco”Ô. A copy of the brochure on Q.U.I.T. Pam Goldin earned her BA in Psychology from Oberlin College and her Master in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She brings to the practice her 24 years Clinical Social Worker at the Meriden Child Guidance Clinic, where she continues to provide her clinical expertise and concern. She has also been a member of the Adjunct Faculty for Fordham University and for Southern CT State University, supervising 2nd year MSW students in their field work experience, and as a Clinical Social Worker for the Holyoke-Chicopee Mental Health Center. For the A&FCC, Goldin is working with families to be more successful in their interactions and relationships and providing therapy for adult clients.
Irene O’Brien, LCSW, has been the Community Social Worker for the VNA of Wallingford since 2000. Her extensive previous experience includes her 11 years in the Social Work Department in the Hospital of St. Raphael, with 5 years as Discipline Chief. Here, she now provides therapy, groupwork such as a Caretakers Group, stress management workshops, and, perhaps, nursery/day-care center consultations. Irene is very experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults and she provides couples, group and family therapy here in the A&FCC practice.

Thomas M. Foster, LCSW, earned his Bachelor degree in Social Welfare from University of California at Berkeley and his Masters degree in social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work. This fall, Tom has returned to his professional ‘first love’, substance abuse treatment; he is now a social worker at Mountainside, an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility in Canaan, CT.
Previously, Foster was Director of Day Treatment and of Intensive Outpatient Services for The Renfrew Center in Old Greenwich, serving women with eating disorders. His varied experience resume includes: Director of Outpatient Substance Abuse Services at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center, Harrison, NY 2005-08; eight years with Stony Lodge Hospital in Ossining, NY, finishing as Director of Clinical/Case Management for inpatient Services; five years work as School Social Worker in the Danbury High School’s School Based Health Center; and at Danbury Hospital, work in agencies, private practice, and as an Employee Assistance Counselor.
As our “Behavioral Change Therapist” here, Tom Foster will start on Saturdays to work with families, counsel teenagers, provide individual and group therapy on substance abuse and eating disorders, and utilize hypnotherapy for the management of chronic pain and for behavior-modification such as smoking cessation.
Susan Rynkiewicz, LCSW, LADC, received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University and earned her Bachelors in Social Work from Western Connecticut State University. In addition to joining our A&FCC staff, Rynkiewicz is a Clinical/Forensic Social Worker at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown.
Sue Rynkiewicz’s previous experience has included: Grief Therapist at Healing Hearts; Substance Abuse Specialist/Consultant for the Connecticut State Department of Children and Families (DCF); and a range of positions at Arms Acres in Carmel, NY, ultimately becoming the Clinical Director of the Outpatient Clinic.
Sue Rynkiewicz now moves her solo private practice into our A&FCC group practice and office. As a “Child, Adolescent & Family Therapist”, she offers individual, family, and group therapy services, initially serving clients on Saturdays. She will focus on services to children ages 8-and-over, teenagers, young adults and adults. She will also provide workshops, groups, programs, and services centered on improving healthy family interconnections, anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, substance abuse treatment, grief processing, and in preparing girls to become healthy young women.
Keri Loper Fryer, LMFT, earned her Bachelors degree in Criminal Science from Sacred Heart University and her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University. Since 2008, she has been a Family Services Counselor for the State of Connecticut, currently in the New Haven District Court.
Prior to this position, Ms. Fryer was: Therapist and Evolve Program Coordinator in Bridgeport for Family ReEntry; Case Manager for The Connection, Inc, in Bridgeport; Case Manager for Keystone, Inc. in Norwalk; and Residential Counselor for Vitam, in Norwalk.
Fryer brings to the A&FCC her broad professional experience from these positions, plus 3 ½ years of being in private practice in Shelton. In our Cheshire office, she will provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy to a range of ages in situations involving anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or family violence. Keri Fryer will also facilitate Parenting Education and Anger Management services.
John Maloney, Jr., LMFT, is also a Licensed Marriage & Family Counselor. John received his Masters Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Saint Joseph College and earned his Bachelors in Psychology Social at Quinnipiac University. Besides joining our staff, Maloney is a Clinical Coordinator at the Center for Human Services in Stratford.
Maloney being his experience as Clinical Site Coordinator for boys and Girls Village, Inc., in Bridgeport, Clinical Supervisor and Outpatient Clinician for Waterbury Youth Services’ Juvenile Redirection Program, and as ADHD Clinician at the Child Guidance Clinic of Waterbury.
John Maloney is moving his 2 year old private practice in Southbury into the A&FCC. Working part-time in both our Danbury and Cheshire offices, Maloney will serve children, adults and families with an array of services, and with his specialization in serving clients with post-traumatic stress disorder, survivors of sexual abuse, and addictions.
Sarah A. Grondin, LCSW, is a CT Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a CT Certified School Social Worker.
Her Masters in Social Work was awarded by Fordham University and she earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at Sacred Heart University. She has worked with a variety of clients and settings, including: Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant for Wellpath, Inc., in Waterbury; for Catholic Charities on Hartford as a Child and Adolescent Clinician for the Intensive In-Home Program, and Case Manager for the Bridgeport’s Regional Network of Programs. In addition to providing psychotherapy services for anxiety, depression, and anger management in our Cheshire office, Ms. Grondin will be staffing our Nursery and Day Care Center Consultation Services and offering Parenting
